Northwest Medical Group Welcomes New Cardiologist to La Porte

Northwest Health welcomes interventional cardiologist, Setri Fugar, M.D., to Northwest Medical Group. Dr. Fugar will be seeing patients in the medical offices adjacent to Northwest Health – La Porte Hospital at 1331 State St. in La Porte and in the new medical office building in Knox located at 402 West Culver Road.

Dr. Fugar completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and a residency in internal medicine at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. He received his medical degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.

“At Northwest Health, we are committed to delivering high quality cardiovascular care to our patients,” said Keith Nichols, chief executive officer, Northwest Health – La Porte and Starke. “And now with the addition of Dr. Fugar we are further expanding access to those services throughout the La Porte community.”

Dr. Fugar has a special interest in preventive cardiology and cardiovascular health. He offers treatment for a wide range of conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, lipid disorders, valvular heart disease, abnormal heart rhythms and peripheral vascular disease.
