5/1/2024
Two Northwest Health hospitals received high marks for quality of care today from The Leapfrog Group, a national organization and advocate for patient safety. Northwest Health – Porter once again received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2024, the highest quality and safety mark available.
Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
"I wish to thank every member of our team for consistently prioritizing quality care and ensuring the safety of our patients. Their dedication to patient safety has once again been recognized nationally by the Leapfrog Group, affirming our commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery,” said Dr. James Leonard, chief executive officer at Northwest Health - Porter. “This achievement underscores our unwavering focus on providing the highest quality care for our patients, ensuring their safety and well-being remain our top priorities."
Northwest Health – La Porte, was honored with a “B” grade from the Leapfrog Group.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that harm patients. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
“This new update in Hospital Safety Grades means that Northwest Health made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
